Happy 50th Push Button Phone

Ever wonder where the phrase Touch-Tone comes from? Well on November 18th, 1963 the Bell System introduced dual-tone multi-frequency (DTMF) technology under its registered Touch-Tone® mark. Introducing the first Push-Button Phone.

Over the next few decades Touch-Tone service replaced pulse dialing (rotary phones) and it eventually became a world-wide standard.

Feel free to share this fun illustration celebrating Push-Button Telephone’s 50th Anniversary.
