Our big news this week is that we have changed domain name and are rebranding ourselves under Ghergich & Co. I could tell you a long story about the decision process that went into the domain/name change but I think that story will be better told with a blog post in the future.
With that out of the way I want to start this week out by mentioning a few Content Marketing & SEO tools I have been checking out.
Content Marketing Tools:
First up is http://www.kurrently.com/ Kurrently is a Real-time Social Search Engine. The tool is a simple but effective way to monitor Twitter, Facebook and Google+. I think you will have no problem adding it to your current toolkit.
The second tool I have been using is http://trap.it/. Trap.it is a Social Discovery tool and it functions like a sleeker stumble upon with better controls. It seems great for content curation and keeping up with relevant news in your niche.
Trap.it was created by the same people who created Siri, but don’t let that discourage you lol.
I also read a great SEO article this week on Seer Interactive by Aichlee Bushnell showing 55+ ways to use Screaming Frog. If you do not use the screaming frog tool already you should start. However, even if you are a veteran user I think you will find Aichlee’s post very thought provoking.
My favorite article this week comes from Doug Kessler and is titled Why the Content Marketing Backlash is Getting it Wrong. I agree with Doug that anything new and flashy is going to get over hyped. Content Marketing is no different. Doug walks you through some of the common complaints that are already cropping up around Content Marketing. He addresses each one in a rational manner that I think is very constructive.
I suggest reading this article and then reading it again, and then…ok twice is probably enough lol.
Lastly, I found Kathryn Aragon’s article, The Secret to Avoiding Content Writer’s Block to be very helpful. Writers block is something we all suffer from with any type of content creation, written or otherwise.
Kathryn looks at 7 great content writers for actionable advice. This is a great post to read when you are “stuck”.
As always I hope you enjoy reading this weeks articles.
